Purpose
- Evaluate the Piriformis muscle as a cause of hip or buttocks pain
Description
- The patient lays on the unaffected side in the lateral decubitus position
- They flex their affected hip up and abduct against gravity
- Positive test
- Reproduction of the patient's typical buttock pain
- Or weakness, or paresthesia on the affected side
