- Between the iliac crest and gluteal line underneath the Gluteus Maximus [1]
Insertion
- Oblique ridge on the lateral Greater Trochanter [1]
Actions
- Abduction of the thigh
- Medial (internal) rotation of the thigh
- Prevents hip drop of the contralateral side [1]
- Similar action to that of the Gluteus Minimus
