Curriculum

  • Ultrasound: Consistent with the AMSSM Sports Ultrasound Curriculum (2015), the HSS Sports Ultrasound Curriculum will introduce the concepts of ultrasound in medicine to the primary care sports medicine fellow. Upon completion of the curriculum, the fellow will be proficient in the core competencies of Sports Ultrasound. This curriculum fulfills requirements for the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) to perform MSK US and the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography’s (ARDMS) MSK sonography certification exam. This includes monthly didactic sessions covering basic principles, ultrasound guided procedures and different regions of the body (Shoulder, Hip/Thigh, Knee, Elbow, Wrist/Hand, Ankle/Foot/Lower Leg); free scanning opportunities; and mentored clinical experience with in-office scanning with faculty.
  • If your program is based out of a certain specialty? The program is listed under the Sports Medicine (Pediatrics) section on the ERAS website, but residents from Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine are encouraged to apply.
  • How is continuity clinic handled for fellows of various specialties? Half day per week of Adolescent Care Clinic in the Department of Pediatrics at New York Presbyterian Hospital (Cornell Campus).
  • What electives are available? Pediatric Orthopedics, Hip, Bone Health
