Purpose

The new pain provocation test with the forearm in pronation (A) and supination (B)[1]

Description

  • The patient is seated
  • Abduct shoulder 90°, flex elbow 90°
  • Stabilize scapula with one hand
  • Twist forearm into max pronation
  • Twist forearm into max supination
  • Positive test
    • Pain in shoulder (suggests superior labral pathology, often worse with pronation)
