Purpose

  • Evaluate dynamic motion of the Scapula as a cause of shoulder pain

Description

  • Patient is seated or standing
  • The examiner places one hand on the upper trapezius muscle and the other hand on inferior medial scapular border.
  • Patient is instructed to elevate arm while practitioner assists scapular upward rotation.
  • Positive Test
    • Reduction in patient symptoms and impingement signs by 'assisting' the scapula
