- Innervates several gluteal muscles

Spinal Levels
- L4 - S1 lumbosacral nerve roots
Anatomic Course
- The nerve runs between the gluteus medius and minimus
Clinical Significance
Surgical
- Injury to this nerve can occur during hip surgery
- Can be injured when these muscles are split to approach the hip
- Leading to weakness in hip abduction/ Trendelenburg gait
