WikiSM can be installed on phones, tablets, and many desktop computers as a web app. This adds a WikiSM icon to your home screen, launcher, Dock, or Start menu and opens WikiSM in an app-style window.
WikiSM is not installed from an app store. Use your browser to install it from:
If the install option does not appear, reload the page, visit the site again, or update your browser. Most WikiSM pages still need an internet connection. If you lose connectivity, the installed web app will show an offline page until you reconnect.
Installation
Use Google Chrome, Firefox for Android, or another Android browser that supports adding websites to the home screen.

On Google Chrome and derivatives:

- Tap Add to Home screen or Install app.
- Confirm the name, then tap Install or Add.
- Open WikiSM from the new icon on your home screen or app launcher.
On Firefox:
- Open Firefox on your Android device.

- Tap the browser menu button.
- Tap Add to Home Screen.
- Confirm the suggested name, then tap Add.
- Tap Add again if Android asks for confirmation.
- Open WikiSM from the new shortcut on your home screen.
Use Safari. Other iOS browsers may open the page, but Safari provides the standard Home Screen installation flow.
- Open Safari on your iPhone or iPad.

- Tap the Share button.
- Scroll through the actions and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Keep the name WikiSM or edit it, then tap Add.
- Open WikiSM from the new icon on your Home Screen.
On Microsoft Edge:
- Open

- Select the app/install icon in the address bar, if it appears.
- If there is no address-bar icon, open the Edge menu and choose Apps > Install this site as an app or Install WikiSM.
- Confirm the installation.
On Google Chrome and derivatives:

- Select the install icon in the address bar, if it appears.
- If there is no address-bar icon, open the Chrome menu and choose Cast, save, and share > Install page as app or a similar install option shown by your Chrome version.
- Confirm the installation.
On macOS Sonoma 14 or later, Safari can add websites to the Dock as web apps.
- Open

- Choose File > Add to Dock, or use the Share button and choose Add to Dock.
- Confirm the name and click Add.
Firefox on desktop can open WikiSM normally, bookmark it, pin it as a tab, or save a shortcut through your operating system. It does not provide the same built-in app-style installation flow as Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, or Safari on macOS.

- Bookmark the page or pin the tab if you want quick access inside Firefox.
- For an app-style desktop installation, use one of the desktop browsers above.
Removing the installed app
Remove the WikiSM icon from the home screen or uninstall it from Android app settings.
Touch and hold the WikiSM icon, then remove it from the Home Screen.
Open the installed WikiSM app, use the app menu, and choose the uninstall or remove option.
Remove WikiSM from the Dock and delete it from the Applications folder if needed.
Remove any bookmark, pinned tab, or operating-system shortcut you created for WikiSM.
Removing the installed web app does not delete your WikiSM account or change wiki content.
