Purpose


Description

  • Patient is in the supine position
  • The examiner passively flexes the patients knee to approximately 90°
  • The examiner then medially rotates the tibia and extends the knee
  • This stresses the lateral meniscus
  • The examiner then externally rotates the tibia and extends the knee
  • This stresses the medial meniscus
  • Positive test is
    • Pain
    • Snap
    • Click

Modified Version

  • Palpate the medial and lateral joint line while performing the exam
