Purpose
- To evaluate the hip joint for causes of the patients pain
Description
- The patient lies in the lateral decubitus position
- Affected hip is placed upward
- The hip is abducted 30-45 degrees, extended and externally rotated
- An anteriorly directed force is applied to the greater trochanter
- Positive test
- Anterior hip pain
