Adductor Squeeze Test

Purpose

  • To evaluate the cause of a patients groin pain by recruiting the Adductor Muscles

Description

  • The patient is supine
  • Hips flexed to 45° & knees flexed 90°
  • Examiner’s fist between knees
  • Patient squeezes fist with adduction
  • Positive test
    • Pain in anterior groin
    • Pubic origin site of adductor muscles

Modification

  • A blood pressure cuff can be used instead of the examiners hand to quantify the results
