  • Demonstrate proficiency in evaluation of injuries both on-the-field and in the clinic
  • Identify indications for specialist and orthopedic referral
  • Explain rehabilitation and physical therapy principles
  • Perform sports pre-participation physical exams
  • Prepare and present formal and informal didactic sessions for residents, medical students and other trainees
  • Identify injury prevention principles using splinting, bracing and taping techniques
  • Discuss medical/legal aspects of sports medicine
  • Demonstrate knowledge of sports nutrition
  • Identify principles of sports psychology
  • Demonstrate the ability to counsel patients with regard to weight and strength training programs, performance enhancement programs and the use of supplements
  • Apply evidence-based medicine principles in the critical evaluation of medical literature
