Perform a detailed musculoskeletal physical exam
Demonstrate proficiency in evaluation of injuries both on-the-field and in the clinic
Identify indications for specialist and orthopedic referral
Explain rehabilitation and physical therapy principles
Perform sports pre-participation physical exams
Prepare and present formal and informal didactic sessions for residents, medical students and other trainees
Identify injury prevention principles using splinting, bracing and taping techniques
Discuss medical/legal aspects of sports medicine
Demonstrate knowledge of sports nutrition
Identify principles of sports psychology
Demonstrate the ability to counsel patients with regard to weight and strength training programs, performance enhancement programs and the use of supplements
Apply evidence-based medicine principles in the critical evaluation of medical literature
