Purpose
- Evaluate for anterior instability of the hip
Description
- The patient is prone
- The affected limb is placed in a "reverse figure of four"
- Position: hip abduction, external rotation and knee flexion
- Anteriorly directed force is applied at the posterior aspect of the greater trochanter
- Positive test
- Anterior hip pain or apprehension
