Purpose
- Evaluate the integrity of the central slip in patients with extensor tendon injuries to the hand
Description
- The patient is seated
- The PIPJ is passively extended and the patient is asked to flex the DIPJ
- If the extensor mechanism is intact, the patient will be able to flex the DIPJ
- If the patient has a central slip injury, the patient will be unable to flex the DIPJ
