Purpose

Demonstration of the C sign[1]
  • A way in which patients characterize the nature of their hip pain

Description

  • Patient is standing or seated
  • Patient cups their hand above the greater trochanter when describing deep, interior hip pain
  • Hand forms a C, hence the term 'C sign'
  • This sign should not be confused as indicating lateral based hip pain
