C Sign of the Hip

Purpose
- A way in which patients characterize the nature of their hip pain
Description
- Patient is standing or seated
- Patient cups their hand above the greater trochanter when describing deep, interior hip pain
- Hand forms a C, hence the term 'C sign'
- This sign should not be confused as indicating lateral based hip pain
