Purpose
- Clinical exxam finding which can suggest an injury to the posterior cruciate ligament
Description
- The patient can be in any position
- Optimal position is supine, knees and hips flexed
- Feet flat on table
- Observe the anterior knee and compare to the other
- Positive sign
- Loss of the normal visualization of the anteromedial and lateral prominences of the tibial plateau beneath the femoral condyles
- Inability to palpate the tibial plateaus
Modification
- Examiner holds the patients leg in the air at the ankle
