General

  • Narrow fibrous band, runs across the volar surfaces of the heads of the 2-5 metacarpals
  • Connects the palmar surface of the metacarpophalangeal joints providing stability[5]
  • Does not include the thumb
  • Blends with the palmer metacarophalangeal ligaments
  • Volar surface is concave where the flexor tendons pass over it
  • Behind it the tendons of the Interossei pass to their insertions.
