Dorsal Intermetatarsal Ligaments

Description

(A) Plantar depiction of the intermetatarsal ligamentous structures that link each bone to their adjacent neighbors. (B) Plantar depiction of the zones of the fifth metatarsal fractures.[1]

General

  • Responsible for stabilizing the Intermetatarsal Joints
  • Present between the second to fifth metatarsals
  • Can be oriented longitudinal, oblique or transverse
  • Considerable variability between individuals
