Purpose
- Evaluate the distal radioulnar joint as a cause of the patients wrist pain
Description
- Requires examination in neutral, pronation and supination
- Compare ulnar translation on the injured side to uninjured site
- Pronated forearm
- Examiner applies a dorsally directed stress to the distal ulna, stabilizing the radius
- Laxity indicates injury to the deep palmer radioulnar ligament
- Supinated forearm
- Examiner applies a palmerly directed stress test to the distal ulna, stabilizing the radius
- Laxity indicates injury to the deep dorsal radioulnar ligament
- Normal test
- Firm end points without side-to-side laxity compared to unaffected limb
