General

• Located in the dorsal region of the ankle
• Extends from sinus tarsi, along the Extensor Retinaculum of the Foot
• Surrounds the extensor digitorum longus tendons

Terminology

• Lies inferior to the inferior extensor retinaculum
• Passes over the EDL tendon at the anterior ankle joint
• Usually only evident on imaging if distended/ pathologic

Ultrasound

• Commonly unilocular, anechoic, and compressible

• Pseudotenosynovitis of the extensor digitorum longus tendons
