External Intercostal Muscles

Description

Origin

  • Inferior border of rib above

Insertion

  • Superior border of rib below

Actions

  • Elevate ribs during forced inspiration
  • Stabilizes intercostal spaces

Vascular Supply

  • Anterior and Posterior Intercostal Arteries
  • Internal Thoracic Arteries
  • Musculophrenic Arteries

Nerve

  • Intercostal Nerves
