Purpose
- Evaluate the integrity of the Quadriceps Tendon in a patient with knee pain
- This test was first described by Rahman in 2025[2]
Description
- The patient is asked to perform a sustained isometric quadriceps contraction
- The examiner attempts to move the patella mediolaterally
- The test is repeated on the contralateral patella for comparison
- Normal test
- Patella that remains immobile or fixed during contraction suggests an intact tendon
- Abnormal test
- Mobile patella indicates a rupture
