Description
Names
- Transverse Carpal Ligament (TCL)
- Flexor Retinaculum of the Hand
General
- Fibrous band on the palmer side of the hand/wrist
- Arches over the carpal bones
- Covers them and forms the carpal tunnel
Bony Attachments
- Ulnar side
- Radial side
Anatomic Relationships
- Continuous with the palmar carpal ligament, palmer aponeurosis[2]
- The ulnar artery, ulnar nerve, cutaneous branches of median and ulnar nerves pass on top
- Flexor carpi radialis lays superficial on the radial side
- Tendons of palmaris longus, flexor carpi ulnaris partly attached to the surface
- Radially, Abductor pollicis brevis, flexor pollicis brevis]] partially originate from TCL
- Ulnarly, a portion of flexor digiti minimi brevis originates from TCL
