Purpose


Description

  • The patient is weight bearing
  • Position the ankle in maximal dorsiflexion
  • Examiner applies medial/lateral compression over the malleoli
  • Positive test
    • Reproduction of pain at the syndesmosis

Modification

  • This test can be performed with the patient supine
  • Force the ankle into dorsifliexion
  • Examiner applies medial/lateral compression over the malleoli
  • Positive test
    • Reproduction of pain at the syndesmosis
