Purpose
- Evaluate the Piriformis Muscle
Description
Classic Description
- The patinet is supine
- The examiner forcefully internally rotates the extended thigh/ affected leg
- Positive test
- Reproduction of pain
- Compression of sciatic nerve with radicular features
Modified Freiberg's Test
- The patient is prone
- The examiner passively extends the patients hip and internally rotates it
- Positive test
- Recreation of pain
- Compression of sciatic nerve with radicular features
Pathology
Evidence
- Positive in up to 63% of patients[3]
