Purpose


Description

Classic Description

  • The patinet is supine
  • The examiner forcefully internally rotates the extended thigh/ affected leg
  • Positive test
    • Reproduction of pain
    • Compression of sciatic nerve with radicular features

Modified Freiberg's Test

  • The patient is prone
  • The examiner passively extends the patients hip and internally rotates it
  • Positive test
    • Recreation of pain
    • Compression of sciatic nerve with radicular features

Piriformis Syndrome

  • Positive in up to 63% of patients[3]
