Purpose
- Evaluate for pathology of the gluteus maximus muscle
Description
- The patient is prone
- The examiner stands at the foot of the examination table
- They examine the gluteal region, comparing the left and right gluteal bulk
- The patient is asked to contract their buttocks
- Positive test
- Loss of contraction on one side
- Sagging muscle
- Disappearance of the infragluteal fold
