Purpose

  • To evaluate the cause of the patients posterior ankle pain
  • The test was first described by Laslett in 1988[1]

Description

  • The patient is supine with the foot and ankle exposed
  • The patient should be as relaxed as possible
  • The examiner grabs the heel with one hand, stabilizes the distal tibia and fibula with the other
  • The examiner then applies a cranial thrust
  • Positive test
    • Reproduction of the posterior ankle pain
