Purpose


Description

  • Patient is typically positioned supine[1]
  • Examiner evaluates baseline hip abduction strength against resistance
  • Compression-relieving interventions may be applied
    • including orthogonal kinesiotaping or surgical decompression
  • Hip abduction strength is reassessed following intervention
  • Positive test:
    • Immediate improvement in hip abduction strength
    • Reduction in pain or paresthesia symptoms
    • Improved resistance during hip abduction testing
