- Inferior Gluteal Nerve
- Nerve to Gluteus Maximus
General
- Branch of the posterior division of the sacral plexus
- Arises from ventral rami of levels L5, S1, S2
Gross Anatomy
- Originates in the pelvis area from the sacral plexus
- Branches just proximal to the sciatic nerve
- Runs anterior to piriformis muscle, along with the inferior gluteal artery
- Leaves the pelvis through the greater sciatic foramen
- Emerges in the gluteal region, pierces the deep surface of glute max
