General

• Capsular ligament along the posterior aspect of the hip joint
• Proximal: ischial part of the acetabular rim
• Insert: base of the greater trochanter of the femur

Function

• Strengthens joint capsule
• Prevents excessive extension
• Limits medial rotation of the hip joint
