Purpose
- Evaluate the integrity of the Flexor Digitorum Profundus at the distal interphalangeal joint
Description
Pronated Hand
- Hand is resting on a table with the distal phalanx hanging off
- The finger and the rest of hand is stabilized by the examiner
- The patient is asked to flex the affected finger
- Positive test
- Absence of flexion at the distal interphalangeal joint
Supinated Hand
- Hand is resting on the table
- The therapist holds the metacarpophalangeal joint, proximal interphalangeal joint in full extension
- The patient is asked to make a fist or to flex the affected digit
- Positive test
- Absence of flexion at the distal interphalangeal joint
