Purpose
- Evaluate the Ligamentum Teres as a cause of the patient's hip/ groin pain
Description
- The patient is supine, examiner standing next to affected side
- Patient knee flexed to 90°, hip flexed to 70°
- From this position, maximally abduct the hip
- Then adduct the hip until it is 30° short of full abduction
- The hip is then fully internally/externally rotated until a firm end point is identified
- Then internal/external rotation is performed in a smooth, steady manner
- Positive test
- Provocation of pain in internal/ external rotation
