Indications
Description
- Splint that maintains the foot/toes in extension
- Goal: stretch the fascia to prevent morning stiffness and pain[1]
- Orthopedic brace worn during sleep to treat plantar fasciitis
- Maintains the ankle in a dorsiflexed position
- Keeps the plantar fascia in a stretched state overnight
- Reduces morning heel pain and stiffness
- Helps prevent contracture of the plantar fascia and Achilles tendon
- Available in posterior shell or low-profile dorsal designs
- Adjustable straps allow customized stretch tension
- Typically used as part of a conservative treatment plan
- Non-invasive and removable
- Designed for nightly use during the healing phase
Evidence
- Multiple studies show benefit, but patients do not tolerate well and compliance can be problematic[2][3][4]
