• Part of a larger muscle group called Occipitofrontalis along with Frontalis

Origin

• Lateral 2/3 of superior nuchal line

Insertion

• Epicranial Aponeruosis

Function

• Retracts the scalp

Vascular Supply

• Occipital artery
• Branches of the posterior auricular artery

Innervation

• Posterior auricular nerve (branch of facial nerve)
