Os Acetabuli

Name

  • Os Acetabuli
  • Ossa acetabuli
  • Os cotyloideum
  • Os coxae quartum
  • Os acetabuli secundarium

General

  • Small ossicles adjacent to the acetabular roof
  • May represent unfused secondary ossification center of the acetabulum or pathologic sequelae

Gross Anatomy

  • Located at the anterior/superior margin
  • Rounded, well corticated with a concave lateral/ convex medial border
  • Can be bilateral, partially fused to the acetabulum
  • Commonly seen in children, typically fuse and are uncommonly seen in adults
