  • Palmar Metacarpophalangeal Ligaments
  • Ligamenta Metacarpophalangea Palmaria

General

  • Thick, dense fibrocartilaginous structures on the palmar aspect of the metacarpophalangeal joint
  • Blend laterally with the accessory collateral and collateral ligaments
  • Also blends with the deep transverse metacarpal ligaments
  • Grooved to receive the flexor tendons and they're corresponding fibrous sheaths

Function

  • Increased articular surface area for the head of the metacarpals
  • Provide stability to the metacarpophalangeal joint
