- Thick, dense fibrocartilaginous structures on the palmar aspect of the metacarpophalangeal joint
- Blend laterally with the accessory collateral and collateral ligaments
- Also blends with the deep transverse metacarpal ligaments
- Grooved to receive the flexor tendons and they're corresponding fibrous sheaths
Function
- Increased articular surface area for the head of the metacarpals
- Provide stability to the metacarpophalangeal joint
