Description
- Narrow adjustable strap worn directly below the patella over the patellar tendon
- Applies targeted compression to the patellar tendon to reduce tendon strain
- Typically made of neoprene or elastic fabric with Velcro closure
- Designed to improve patellar tendon biomechanics during activity
- Commonly used during running, jumping, and sports participation
Evidence
- May decrease patellar tendon strain by altering angle between patella and patella tendon[1]
- Overall evidence is weakly favorable[2]
- There are no high quality level 1 studies
