Name

  • Patellar Plexus

General

  • Nerve plexus in the subcutaneous tissue overlying/surrounding the patella
  • Composed a fine network of communicating nerves

Nerve Origins

  • Anterior division of lateral femoral cutaneous nerve
  • Terminal branches of the intermediate femoral cutaneous nerve
  • Terminal branches of the medial femoral cutaneous nerve
  • Infrapatellar branch of saphenous nerve

Clinical Significance

  • May lose sensation of patella following trauma or surgery
