Purpose


Description

  • The patient is prone or seated with ankle relaxed
  • Ask them to plantarflex and evert their foot back and forth
  • Observe for changes in the posterior aspect of lateral malleolus
  • Simultaneously, palpate the course of the peroneal tendons
  • Positive test
    • Visible or palpable snapping of the peroneal tendons
    • Reproduction of the patients lateral ankle pain or instability
