Purpose
- To evaluate for the presence of a parameniscal cyst when a mass is present on the knee
- First described by Pisani in 1947[2]
Description
Classic Maneuver
- Patient is supine
- The mass is visualized with the knee in full extension
- Mass disappears when the knee is placed in flexion
Modified Maneuver
- Note: Proposed for lateral meniscus
- The patient is supine
- The knee is held at 45 degrees of flexion
- Internally and externally rotate the leg
- Positive test
- Prominent cyst in external rotation disappears with internal rotation
