Description
- Not a true ligament but a dense fibrocartilaginous plate
- Found on the plantar surface of phalangeal heads in the interphalangeal joints
- Blend together with the Collateral Interphalangeal Ligaments
Function
- Help increase the articulation area for the base of the phalanx
- Limit the degree of extension at the interphalangeal joint
- Reinforce the articular capsule surrounding the interphalangeal joints
