Purpose


Description

  • The patient is in a supine position
  • Perform the FADIR maneuver (flexion, adduction, internal rotation)
  • Then ABER (abduction, external rotation) the hip while extending
    • This should be a fluid arc of motion
  • Positive test
    • Hip pain
    • An audible click

Alternative Description

  • Apply a posteriorly directed force on the knee
