Purpose

  • Evaluate for posterior instability of the hip

Description

  • The patient is supine
  • Hip is flexed to 90°, 30° external rotation and knee flexed to 90°
  • A posteriorly directed force is placed at the knee
  • Positive test
    • Reproduction of posterior pain/ apprehension
