Name

  • Posterior Talofibular Ligament
  • PTFL

Anatomic Description

  • Intracapsular, extra synovial ligament
  • Origin: posterior aspect of distal fibula
  • Insertion: courses posteromedial to insert on the lateral tubercle of posterior talus
  • Lies deep to the peroneal retinaculum, flexor hallucis longus

Radiographic Appearance

  • MRI[2]
    • Often appears striated, striped secondary to fibrofatty make-up

Vascular Supply

  • Needs to be updated

Innervation

  • Needs to be updated
