Purpose

  • To evaluate the cause of a patients forearm and wrist pain

Description

  • The patient is seated or standing
  • Grasp wrist with one hand
  • Grasps elbow with other hand
  • Patient extends elbow & pronates forearm against resistance
  • Compresses the median nerve between the two pronator teres heads
  • Positive test
    • Pain just distal to elbow
    • Worsening numbness, tingling in the median nerve distribution
