Purpose

  • To evaluate the cause of a patients forearm and wrist pain

Description

  • The patient is seated or standing
  • Examiner grasps wrist with one hand
  • Grasp the elbow with other hand
  • Patient flexes elbow & supinates forearm against resistance
    • Compresses the median nerve under the lacertus fibrosus (distal bicipital aponeurosis)
  • Positive test
    • Pain just distal to elbow
    • Worsening numbness, paresthesias in the median nerve distribution
