Purpose

  • Evaluate the hip for etiology of pain

Description

  • Patient is supine on the examination table
  • Examiner flexs hip and knee
  • Passively move hip through an arc of motion incorporating hip flexion/adduction and extension/abduction
  • A posterior compressive force is applied and maintained through adduction and abduction
  • Positive test
    • Pain worse than when they presented
