Purpose
- To evaluate the severity of a foot or ankle pathology
- Can also be used to measure end range strength of the calf muscles
Description
- Ask the patient to stand on both feet flat footed
- Then ask them to perform a double leg calf raise
- Then ask them to perform a single leg calf raise
- Positive test can help indicate severity
- Unable to weight bear suggests moderate to severe
- Able to double leg calf raise suggests moderate
- Able to perform single leg calf raise suggests mild
Pathology

- Particularly useful for Lateral Ankle Sprain
- Achilles Tendinopathy
