Purpose
- Evaluate the etiology of hip pain
Description
- The patient is supine
- Examiner asks patient to raise their leg, flexed 20-45° off the table with the knee in extension
- Examiner applies one hand on the anterior thigh, forcing it back down against the exam table
- Positive test
- Anterior hip or groin pain
Modification
- The test can be performed with the leg in slight external rotation
Pathology
- Athletic Pubalgia
- Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis
- Femoral Acetabular Impingement
- Hip Osteoarthritis
- Acetabular Labrum Tear
- Snapping Hip Syndrome
