Purpose
- Evaluate for anterolateral rotatory instability of the subtalar joint
Description
- The athlete is supine
- The ankle is about 10 degrees of dorsiflexion to keep the talocrural joint stable
- The forefoot is stabilized with one hand
- The examiner applies inversion/internal rotation to the calcaneus with the other hand
- Then, apply an inversion force to the forefoot
- Positive test
- Excessive medial shift of the calcaneus
- Reproduction of the athletes pain and instability
