Purpose


Description

  • The athlete is supine
  • The ankle is about 10 degrees of dorsiflexion to keep the talocrural joint stable
  • The forefoot is stabilized with one hand
  • The examiner applies inversion/internal rotation to the calcaneus with the other hand
  • Then, apply an inversion force to the forefoot
  • Positive test
    • Excessive medial shift of the calcaneus
    • Reproduction of the athletes pain and instability
